About this Course

Join in the YarnAddict Mystery Knitalong (KAL) 2012.

During this course you will learn all the techniques needed to knit the 2012 Mystery Shawl designed by Anniken Allis who is also your teacher.

Course content:

  • How to read lace charts
  • Long Tail Cast On
  • How to add beads to your knitting using a crochet hook
  • How to work yarn overs and different decreases used in lace knitting

Each week another lesson will be released with the next pattern clue and videos to show you how to knit the next section of the pattern. 

This course is suitable for knitters with basic knitting skills who would like to learn how to knit lace or who would like some guidance while working through this Mystery Shawl.

You will be able to choose from a small or large version knitted in 4ply/fingering weight sock yarn or lace yarn.

Materials:

Small Sock Yarn Version:

  • 100gr/400m sock yarn
  • 4mm/US6 circular needles (100cm long)
  • 19 6mm miracle/illusion beads
  • 0.75mm crochet hook

Large Sock Yarn Version:

  • 200gr/800m sock yarn
  • 4mm/US6 circular needles (100cm or 120cm long)
  • 25 6mm miracle/illusion beads
  • 0.75mm crochet hook

Laceweight version (this version will be the same pattern as for the large sock yarn version):

  • 100gr/800m laceweight yarn
  • 3.5mm/US4 circular needles (100cm long)
  • 25 4mm miracle/illusion beads
  • 0.50mm or 0.75mm crochet hook

You may find it useful to have some stitch markers and a row counter too.
