Painter Club 2018-Part 2 Session Syllabus

Pastel Brush Basics

Many artists put the cart before the horse and they apply the technique with such rigidity that it suffocates the art. The technique has to come out of the search for the art. This is the concept of your first lesson. You will explore one of the most versatile and beautiful brush categories in Painter and you may discover a new connection with the category. You will learn to approach pastel painting with your particular and unique approach. Students may choose to concentrate on landscapes, still life or portraits and there are no strict rules to follow. I want you to thoroughly enjoy and explore Pastels.

If you are working in Painter 2017 or greater you will utilize the default brush categories as well as the Natural Media Brushes brush Library available in Painter 2018 or greater. During this session, you will receive bonus brushes and many extra resources to get you started with Pastels.

This session includes two live sessions. Live session webinars are recorded for you if you cannot attend.

Discover the World of Painting With Overlays and Textures

Students will explore the fundamentals of using texture in the painting process. You will work with brushes that impart texture as well as using overlays and composite methods to evoke a special and unique quality to your work. You will learn how to use image overlays to subtly change the atmosphere of a painting and to give your paintings that something extra!

What You Will  Learn:

How to create texture within your brush with paper textures and more!
How to use image overlays to create exciting effects!
How to use overlays simultaneously with composite methods to create inspirational paintings
The fundamentals of Screen Composite Method

Course Resources:
Students will receive individual folders which include various textures, overlays, and images to employ for this lesson.
Bonus Bokeh Brushes!

Winter Wonderland With Watercolor

Students may use Painter 2018 or greater or Rebelle 3. Karen will demonstrate two different approaches one with Painter and one with Rebelle 3.

For this, the final session of the year students will learn to paint with digital watercolors. Karen will demonstrate how to paint trees and snow using the default watercolor brush categories. You will explore color and color harmony. Karen will introduce you to negative painting with watercolors and instruct you on how to utilize the Selection brushes for amazing results. Lots of painting and practice are essential in this class and Karen will encourage you to paint often. Practice is key to perfection when painting with digital watercolors.

Karen will include a lesson using Rebelle 3 watercolor techniques to create a wintery landscape.
