I am a teacher, yogini, women's health coach, artist, and rogue anthropologist based in Vermont. I enjoy working with my clients and students to find a sense of equanimity and peace in their lives regardless of circumstances. In addition to the yoga and meditation training programs with an emphasis in meditation and Buddhist philosophy that I offer, I also specialize in working with women around issues of reproductive health, pregnancy, and stress management. I work with private clients all over the world using SKYPE and facilitate group coaching programs like this one.

The Four Noble Truths

The Four Noble Truths provide insights for being happy even as we cope with change and suffering in our lives.  


This course is for you if you:

Course Includes:

  • Instruction in basic meditation techniques
  • Information on how to create a daily meditation practice
  • Video, reading guides, worksheets and guided meditation practices

 

In addition to reading this core text together and considering these shared characteristics of human life, we will learn a variety of mindfulness and insight (vipassana) based meditation techniques.  These techniques are basic meditation concepts that can be approached by absolute begninners and be used as inspiration for adults with an existing meditation practice.  This combination of guided readings and meditation practices is an absolute delight for adults who want to know more about meditation AND have a personal meditation practice.  Using video, reading guides, worksheets and guided meditation practices, this course is appropriate for adults who are interested in an intellectual approach to the techniques of meditation.  The course tuition does not include the cost of the required textbook and all participants are responsible for obtaining the text by the first week of the course. Please note that while the concepts introduced in this course originate in Buddhism, the course itself is secular and adults of all faiths and religions are warmly welcome to gather together to learn about Buddhist philosophy and a variety of meditation techniques and ideas that do not conflict with any religion.  The Four Noble Truths represent some of the most significant concepts in Buddhist philosophy and should be general knowledge for anyone who would like to know the basics of Buddhism.  

What is a reading club style course?  This course is really about providing inspiration and guidance so you can read the book on your own, at your own pace and in your own way, but also in a supportive community where you will receive ideas about how to bring the significant concepts from the book to practice in your daily life.  These courses are perfect for adults who love book clubs and sharing what they read, discussing books they are currently reading and who don't just want to read about meditation and yoga.  You want to practice and take what you read and apply it for your own benefit, health and well-being.  And, we want to hear your ideas, insights and practice feedback!  In this course, we all benefit from sharing and reading the book together.
