Dr. Debra Em Wilson

Dr. Debra Em Wilson, a Reading Specialist and the Founder of S’cool Moves, is a graduate of the University of Southern Queensland Professional Studies Research Program. Her dissertation uncovered attributes of successful collaboration between occupational therapists and general education teachers working together in the classroom environment. She has over 30 years presenting and teaching elementary through college students. Courses are often taught with an another facilitator but Ruzuku limits the course facilitator to only one name. SERIES DETAILS

Best Practices in Collaboration is a three-part series that features an in-depth look at the three S'cool Moves Intervention Strategies: Minute Moves, Focus Moves, and Power Up! Moves. 

Enjoy learning S'cool Moves theory, principles, routines, and interventions in this fun and enlightening course. 

The three sessions were designed to build upon one another and are best taken in order.

EACH SESSION offers 15 hours of instruction broken into short, easy to digest lessons. (A total of 45 hours of credit for the full series.)

PLUS lots of downloadable materials and discounts on S'cool Moves products including the Foundation Moves Book, Job Card Booklets, Quadrant Word Tap Editable Cards, Word Ping-Pong Editable Cards, Minute Moves Routines, and more. Posters are not a downloadable item. These need to be purchased, but you'll receive a discount coupon when you complete the course.

Session 1: MINUTE MOVES*

This session covers Minute Moves theory and activities:

  • Apply best practice strategies
  • Support diverse learners
  • Learn Minute Moves Routines
  • Meld brain research into practice
  • Create sensory supportive classrooms

Session 2: FOCUS MOVES

This session covers Focus Moves theory and activities:

  • Teach essential skills for academic stamina
  • Apply the neurodevelopmental model
  • “All hands on deck” collaboration
  • Transitions & brain breaks with a purpose
  • Design interventions using the Five Systems Approach

Session 3: POWER UP! MOVES

This session covers Power Up! Moves theory and activities:

  • Design engaging small group stations
  • Address rapid naming skill deficits
  • Address dyslexia spectrum student needs
  • Integrate with any program and align with standards
  • Improve literacy through the Five Systems Approach

Units or Continuing Education Hours

Teachers: Earn up to three units of 800 level course work (fourth year/graduate). A fee of $60.00 per unit applies and is paid directly to Chico State University, Chico, CA.**

**Sessions must be completed by December 1, 2017 for fall semester credit. Verification of acceptance of units is the responsibility of the participant and not guaranteed by S’cool Moves.

Therapists & Support Staff: Certificate(s) of completion provided for up to 45 hours of coursework.***
