Monet was known for his Impressionistic paintings. Monet was a founder of French Impressionist painting, and the most consistent and prolific practitioner of the movement's philosophy of expressing one's perceptions before nature, especially as applied to plein-air landscape painting.
The emphasis will be on learning more about the new Thick Paint brushes in Painter 2018. You will receive a custom brush category, a PDF and lesson video. You will learn how to vary the color in your brush strokes to emulate the style of Monet.
Blue Delft Painting Techniques
This lesson will introduce you to a style of painting called Blue Delft. Delftware includes pottery objects of all descriptions such as plates, ornaments, and tiles. The most highly-regarded period of production is about 1640–1740. This lesson will show you how to paint traditional blue Delft tiles using Painter. Students may wish to have their tiles printed and this class will offer suggestions on where to print them. Your lesson will include many ideas to get you started including a PDF, and several templates to start with.
Still Life Painting
A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).
With origins in the Middle Ages and Ancient Greco-Roman art, still-life painting emerged as a distinct genre and professional specialization in Western painting by the late 16th century and has remained significant since then. A still-life form gives the artist more freedom in the arrangement of elements within a composition than do paintings of other types of subjects such as landscape or portraiture.
This lesson will show you how to arrange a pleasing composition and paint a still life painting using Painter. Students will be encouraged to use brushes that they enjoy working with. Karen will be working with a combination of Thick Paint and Oil brush variants.
