Students may wish to have their tiles printed and this class will offer suggestions on where to print them. Your lesson will include many ideas to get you started including a PDF, and several templates to start with.

June Lesson

Still Life Painting

A still life is a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which may be either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, or shells) or man-made (drinking glasses, books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, and so on).
With origins in the Middle Ages and Ancient Greco-Roman art, still-life painting emerged as a distinct genre and professional specialization in Western painting by the late 16th century and has remained significant since then. A still-life form gives the artist more freedom in the arrangement of elements within a composition than do paintings of other types of subjects such as landscape or portraiture.

This lesson will show you how to arrange a pleasing composition and paint a still life painting using Painter. Students will be encouraged to use brushes that they enjoy working with. Karen will be working with a combination of Thick Paint and Oil brush variants.
