About this course
Shadow Ornament
Light filtered through paper is captivating, and this project is inspired by the Japanese shoji screens which do a lovely job of dividing space and creating a beautiful atmosphere in a room. Shadows are fun because they change, depending on the light source.. Hang this shadow ornament on the Christmas tree, in a window, or package it in a ring box as a gift.
In this course you will learn:
- How to create a simple balsa wood frame
- How to work with shadow and light
- Skill building for future illuminated paper projects
You will need the following supplies:
MATERIALS:
- Card stock 2” square
- Plain translucent paper 2” square
- Sand paper
- (4) 1/8 x 1/8” balsa wood strips approx 2” long
- Thread (2-strands of embroidery floss or sewing thread
- Decorative Punch & Beads (optional)
TOOLS:
- Needle
- White glue & brush
- Cutting mat
- Craft knife
