About this course
I want to live in a world where we all know that our energy bodies affect our experience just as much as our physical bodies. Often, if we think about our energy at all, we only pay attention when we have too much or too little. Yet our energy affects every transaction we engage with, all day long. In the Vedic and Chinese Medical models, the energy body is a central aspect of the way human wellness is understood. Through recent neuroscience research, we know that the mind has vast affects on the body, and how we conceive of ourselves can actually change the way our biology functions.
This course will help us choose the way we perceive ourselves, and thus help us shape our experience of our bodies and our lives.
I'm saddened when people get easily overwhelmed, or feel sensitive to the moods and emotions of others, yet don't know what to do to change their experience. We end up feeling like there's something wrong with us, instead of knowing how to work with our energy and biological systems. This course is my attempt to provide a basic understanding of how we can work with our energy, using our imagination. Our consciousness affects what we observe. When we observe ourselves, and direct that observation through a mindful imagery visualization, we shape the experience we are having.
I want you to feel confident in your experiences with your energy, and the energy of others. When you encounter a difficult interaction that changes your mood and then seems to hang in the air like a fog of distress, you'll have a tool for that. When you walk into a space and it feels chaotic, you'll have a tool for that. When you step into a teaching, leadership, performing or service role and you want to extend energy to individuals or a group of people, you'll have a tool for that.
I've created a course that will help you change the way you relate with your energy body, your physical body, and other people. This course will offer you a guided tour of a wealth of energetic and physical embodied images, and is your opportunity to explore what works best for you. When we're finished, you will have a library of images that you can use for different life circumstances. You'll know how to handle those situations that have previously felt baffling or overwhelming, and you'll have a sense of your baseline state and how to return to it.
We'll be learning together on biweekly recorded webinars that you can download and review at your convenience. On the webinars, we'll be doing a combination of conversation, writing, and guided visualization exercises. There is an online classroom learning environment where you can interact with other learners and write questions and responses to the suggested homework. You will have opportunities to practice exercises with people in your lives or in the class. And I will offer recordings for each of the exercises so you can practice in between webinars.
Sometimes folks encounter difficulties with their visual imagination. Over time, I've learned that adding a smell, taste or sound to the practice can produce powerful enhancements to the visual image. These imaginative practices generate potent results, and the effects increase and deepen with practice. As with most life affirming practices, the first attempt is often a combination of helpful and confusing, whereas the 1000th attempt is powerful and productive.
Lesson 1: We'll talk about energy and explore our existing energy shape. We'll visualize some new energy shapes and explore how what we experience changes, depending on the image. We'll explore images for the feet.
Lesson 2: This webinar is all about boundaries. We'll explore our baseline energy shape and how other people's energy affects us. There will be several practices for clearing our energy bodies, and we'll also work with time and space practices. We'll explore images for the shoulders, hands and arms.
Lesson 3: In our third lesson, we'll explore the ways we can blend and extend our energy with others. We'll have an opportunity to discuss energy ethics. Our visualizations in this class will help us work with pain, and source energy.
Lesson 4: We'll work with cleansing in the fourth webinar, both of spaces around us, and deep cleansing visualizations for our energy bodies. We'll discuss our daily practices for staying connected with our energy bodies, and we'll create plans for maintenance as well as conduct a completion ritual for the class.
