Fashion Designing: Part1 quick sketching in Croquis book

I’m  a visual and performing artist , and homeschooling mom of three . 

I’ve Taught fashion design at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in NYC since 1997 in BFA and AAS programs.  I’ve also worked with early childhood and parents in music and movement.

At the core of all of my interdisciplinary and multicultural experiences , I find this to be true:   Many people have trauma and limiting belief about their art abilities, but it’s only belief. I have seen hundreds of students transform profoundly when they are guided, informed, and supported and encouraged  in a playful, art infused and energized environment where they cannot HELP but connect to their own powerful truth I spite of their fear.

Finally, I believe that your sacred expression is divine, that learning and creating art are spiritual practices of deep connection to source Nd magical possibility.

I'm the founder of Fashion Illustration Tribe, a momma and creative (and performing artist), fashion designer, educator, author and illustrator.  I graduated from Parsons School of Design in 1995 and started teaching in their BFA Program in 1997. (Learn more about me and my approach here) During my 25+ years Parsons career  I've been so blessed to have taught:

 pattermaking, draping, and sewing, model drawing 1 and 2, 

Fashion Portfolio, Fashion  Illustration, Fashion Flats, 

and Fashion Concepts development (developing design ideas in a creative croquis book).

Ultimately, in 2008 I created their very first online fashion design online studio course and in that moment I knew that someday this program right here would be born!!! I taught that course to students globally for ten years straight along with other courses. My book is called the Language of Fashion Design, and I also created a course for Craftsy/Bluprint (which is closing up their company now as we speak!) It was a wonderful ride. Over the years I learned that my gift was enthusiasm and energy, as well as an ability to see what people are capable of even when they don't believe it. I realized I had a gift of showing them what is possible  -recognizing their inner voice and bringing it out.

I can hear you say what you want in your heart, and I can hear the voice in your head that is holding you back. I LOVE watching the strides and "miracles" as my clients and students step into their self-knowledge and evolve quickly into experienced and passionate voices. WE LOVE diversity and ethical fashion. WE LOVE creativity and expression. WE LOVE color, fabric, texture, culture.  We love humans and women and how we live and love. We love craft, detail, and the creative process. We love becoming more and more of who we are called to be every day We love to live our fullest lives by experiencing the magic of creativity and vision!
