Nancy Shanteau

Nancy Shanteau is the lineage bearer for Skills for Change Coaching. She is a Somatic Coach and the founder of the Folkloom School, the home of the Skills for Change Coaching Certification Program. She is a settler who lives and works in Nevada County, CA, lands stolen from the Nisenan tribe. The local tribal language is Nisenan, in the Yuba and Bear River watersheds. Nancy practices Relationship Anarchy, identifies as pansexual, and is a cis white multi-ethnic woman. She uses she/her pronouns. Dedicated to radical, decolonizing, empowering education, Nancy has been teaching and coaching since 2004. “I believe people need safety and a feeling of connection and love in order to change. In a good teaching relationship, the teacher becomes engaged in your dream, and provides support, strength and vision to help you achieve it.”

About this Course

I created the Skills for Change Coaches and Practitioners Working Group to give us an opportunity to share tools and resources, and discuss topics relevant to Coaching, Mediation and Bodywork. Anyone who uses Skills for Change in a work context as a coach, therapist, practitioner or service provider is welcome to join. Folx are welcome to ask personal questions about their lives, and I will respond not only with helpful guidance for the individual, but also with the underlying theory behind my response.

This group is not intended to provide Supervision, and is a useful supplement. Participants are welcome to begin discussions about situations they are facing with their clients. *Please make sure if you are sharing a client story that you change names and any identifying information.*

Each month, we will consider a different topic and review the existing resources currently available, including written materials, audio, and video. We might invite guests to come and talk, and participants might be invited to make a presentation to share their knowledge with the group. As the Working Group leader, I will have hierarchical power, and will delegate cooperation whenever it makes sense for the group to make a decision collectively. We will operate as much as possible based on the Cooperative Contract: ask for 100% of what you want, 100% of the time.

If you have questions about whether participation in this working group is right for you, please reach out to me at nancy.shanteau@gmail.com or at 530-273-5170.

Webinars will take place on 3rd, 4th or 5th Wednesdays between 4 - 5:30 pm PT. Currently scheduled Webinars: January 23, February 20, March 20.
