About this Course

HWIP’s  Queer Spirituality Resources for Worship Leaders includes a 7-Day Online Queer Spirituality Retreat, as well as additional queer worship resources: a Call to Worship, prayer/meditation, Responsive Reading, Creative Worship Ritual, a benediction, and a quality icon image usable for worship bulletins or projections. Ideally, the worship resources work for a series of seven different worship celebrations featuring these queer holy women of color; however, they can also function individually without being in a series.

Use these resources to subversively queer your, spirituality, and lead your community in celebrating their spirituality without having to translate it through the lens of heteronormativity. The retreat and worhsip resources feature seven different queer women of color: Pauli Murray, Frida Kahlo, Perpetua and Felicity, the Shulamite, Marsha P Johnson, Guanyin, and Gloria Anzaldúa.

The retreat can be used for you personally, or in small group settings. The additional worship resources are meant to be shared in worship or other communal gatherings.

This retreat was graciously made possible by a BTS Center Innovation Incubator Grant.
