About this course

In Course 1: Understanding, Assessing, and Diagnosing Substance Use Disorders, you will gain a greater understanding of why it is important for mental health professionals to know about substance use disorders (SUDs). Students will also learn about primary theories of addiction, how the brain is impacted by substance use, the DSM-5 classification of substances, and the role that trauma plays in creating and sustaining addictions. Our courses are laid out systematically, with each module building on the next.
