Sarah valentine actors accent coach

Sarah Valentine

Hi, I’m Sarah, I have worked as an actor, casting director, agent, and accent coach. I now predominantly work with actors, voice actors, and others interested in mastering Accents and the art of the Self-Tape. I have always taught one-on-one and am now venturing into teaching students over the interweb, hehe. I don't teach like other teachers, I teach my student's unique tips and techniques to gain the skills they need to get that perfect self-tape or perfectly impersonate an accent and make it real for them. I like to have a lot of fun too. I really look forward to working together. Kindest Sarah Valentine

About this course

Challenge yourself!

This course lays the foundation to make an  expert out of any student.

Settle in as Sarah walks you through the characteristic sounds of the Standard British Accent including the pronunciation of different sounds, words, phrases, and full sentences.

Once you’ve signed up, you’ll receive seven short and easy to follow video lessons conducted by Sarah Valentine, a professional accent coach of 20 years. She'll be giving you feedback along the way on the videos you upload.

Once finished, you’ll be able continue accessing the course so you can repeat it until you have the accent just right. This course will familiarise actors and voice actors with the basics of the Standard British Accent and even help those who simply want to sound more native.

Course Breakdown

Day 1. We begin with familiarising yourself with Ruzuku and using the website to get the most out of it.

Day 2 - It's time for Lesson 1. You'll be learning about the Valentine Method. You wont be learning the International Phonetic Alphabet you will be doing it YOUR way.

Day 3. Straight into creating your Spark - what triggers you into your accent.

Day 4. Sounds Specific to the British Accent - what makes a British Accent a British Accent? Learn about the specific sounds that make this accent so distinct.

Day 5. Catch Up Day - finish your homework and get those videos uploaded for feedback.

Day 6.  Words - Sarah helps you to ground the sounds you've just learned by practicing different words.

Day 7. Short Sentences - It's time to move on from sounds and start short sentences.

Day 8.  Catch Up Day - if you've finished your homework, take a breather to let the learning sink in.

Day 9. Longer Sentences - this is when you're really going to put your accent to the test. Longer sentences will call on you to remember all the distinct sounds as you move through each word.

Day 10. The Monologue - this is what we build towards throughout the entire course. Your big moment!

Day 12. Let's not say Goodbye - give your feedback and options to work together further.
