Renee Schwartz

Hello! I have four children (ages 21, 19, 18, and 8) and I have been a Waldorf homeschool consultant since 2005. Thousands of people a year from around the world visit my website. I hold an M.S. in Curriculum & Instruction, with additional training in Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia methods. I am currently part of Cycle 11 of the Applied Arts Program for Waldorf Handwork teachers (fibercraftstudio.org). I am also the lead teacher at Little Bluestem, a homeschool co-op located in Southern Illinois (littleblustem.org). I share my ongoing collection of curriculum notes from my own classroom for free online at waldorfcurriculum.com. Please note that I am an Amazon Affiliate.

About this course

Welcome to this year-long immersive experience in lesson planning for the Second Grade Year in Waldorf education.  Join an experienced Waldorf homeschool teacher and consultant, and a community of fellow homeschoolers.  Ask plenty of questions and share your lesson planning and  teaching successes as you work through this inspiring, do-able, step by step course.  Each main lesson block will be covered!  We will support one another throughout the entire length of the school year.  Please note that the number of people in the cohort will be limited to 15 to allow for strong friendships to blossom.  This is a 'go at your own pace course' and you can refer to it forever!

This course opens May 1, 2022 and runs through June 30, 2023.

Topics covered include Aesop's Fables, Jataka Tales, Native American Legends, Saints & Heroes, Column Algorithms, Shapes & Number Patterns, Nature Study, Penmanship, Form Drawing, Art, Handwork, and more!

Please note that the course includes extra support ideas for students who are showing difficulty with language arts and math.  I am trained in both Structured Word Inquiry (wonderful for all children but particularly for students struggling to read and spell) and Montessori Math (for children who have difficulty with place value and computation).
